Cast & Scenes from “Who Framed Lucky the Leprechaun?”

“No! That was Count Chocula fan mail!” - Lucky

an absurd original by Jeannette Jaquish © 2008 - 2026

CAST: 18 to 28 actors. Need 3 to 6 kids.

Roles can be played by males or females.
LENGTH: About 70 minutes.

COST: $10 per performance or $40 for 1 year.

TECH: Easy medium. Script alternates from main stage scene, then curtain closes to do a short scene as the set is changed behind the curtain.
EDGY MYSTERY: This show has lots of hilarious characters, action, and ridiculous situations around a logical mystery which is revealed in the climactic ending.
The script is slightly PG with bits about test tube birth, a misunderstanding about a girl named Trixie, a leprechaun trying but failing to get drunk on Strawberry Quik, a cop wanting to do a "search", and speculation about a Leprechaun using lots of clover, but it is all ridiculous, and little kids won't understand those parts anyway. This a great show for mixed ages.

2008 Performance at the Firehouse Theater in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

CAST LIST & SCENES & SUGGESTED CASTING

The 6 smaller child roles are in two groups:

—- 3 LEPRECHAUNS: also play TIMID, BOLD & PANICKY KIDS in Scene 2.

—- 3 KEEBLERS: also play TRYOUT KIDS 123 in Scene 1, KEEBLERS in Scene 4: Marshmallow Mines, TOURISTS in Scene 6: Congressional Hearing, and KEEBLERS again in Scene 8: TV Interview.

The CREW in Scene 1 should be the same crew in Scene 8: TV Interview. Two Crew reveal themselves to be Animal Rights Activists, and one of the Full Grown Actors Playing Children reveals him or herself to be the Show Host.

Other casting variations are possible and probably better with your cast because you know them. But this listing shows what characters are in the same scenes, so you do not put the same actor as two characters in the same scene, and you allow time for costume change. I shouldn’t have to say this, but please read the script before casting so you make decisions that make sense considering the actors’ ages, sizes and abilities.)
